Steven J. Lafranchi & Associates, Inc. (SJLA) is a full-service Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, Land Planning & Landscape Architecture firm, located right in Theatre Square in the heart of beautiful downtown Petaluma. Covering Sonoma County and beyond, our projects cover a wide range of diverse projects, large and small, urban and rural.  Projects include all types of commercial, industrial, residential (market rate and affordable) and mix-use developments. Because of our surveying, landscape architecture and land planning services, we are involved or lead teams of top design professionals starting with entitlements through construction.  In our 30 years of practice, we have had the opportunity to work with top professionals and development teams to create iconic spaces that contribute to the splendor of our area and meet the needs of our growing community.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee a variety of land development projects coordinating with the office land planning, landscape architecture and land surveying teams.
  • Prepare and/or support staff and team members in the creation of civil engineering plans & supporting reports for entitlements, construction phase documents and construction phases management of a project. This includes but not limited to creating and overseeing all civil related plans, reports and supporting documents.
    • Sanitary sewer and storm drain gravity networks using Hydraflow & Storm Sewers.
    • Grading models.
    • Review & implement plan revision markups for pipe networks, plan / profile / alignments, road sections.
    • Lead the entitlement team to coordinate designs with civil components.
    • Manage ACAD standards, templates, block & assembly libraries.
    • Review plan check comments & implement design changes as needed to respond.
    • Review code and design standards as needed to certify compliance or identify adjustments needed.
    • Oversee civil component of entitlement documents.
    • Oversee construction document preparation.
    • Oversee construction management activities.
    • Interact with jurisdictional agencies, project outside design consultant teams and clients providing consultation, direction and support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Two years of experience in the preparation of land development civil engineering construction documents (design, calculations, plans, reports, studies).
  • Possession of Certificate of Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California or the ability to obtain registration within one year.
  • Ability to complete all designs in AutoCAD Civil 3D .
  • Computer skills required include AutoCad Civil 3D; LDD; Microsoft Office Suite
  • Autodesk Certification a plus.
  • Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License.
