Civil Designer

1. Civil Designer – Site Plan Development

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Civil Designer specializing in site plan development to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil design, with expertise in creating comprehensive site plans that align with client objectives and adhere to California’s regulatory standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

Site Plan Development:  Create detailed site plans for diverse projects including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Collaborative Design:  Work closely with engineers, architects, and planners to develop site layouts, grading plans, drainage systems, and utility plans.

Regulatory Compliance:  Ensure all designs adhere to California state and local regulations, including zoning laws, environmental standards, and accessibility requirements.

Technical Expertise:  Use industry-standard software (such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar) to produce accurate and detailed drawings and models.

Project Management:  Handle multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines while maintaining high quality standards.

Client Interaction:  Communicate effectively with clients to understand project requirements and provide progress updates.

Site Analysis:  Conduct site visits and assessments to collect data, evaluate existing conditions, and address potential challenges.

Documentation:  Prepare comprehensive reports, documentation, and presentation materials for both internal use and client meetings.

 

Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field a plus.

Experience:  Minimum of 3 years of experience in civil design with a focus on site plan development. Familiarity with California-specific regulations is highly desirable.

Technical Skills:  Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant design software. Experience with GIS and site planning tools is an advantage.

Knowledge:  Strong understanding of California land use regulations, environmental considerations, and site development practices.

Communication:  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Problem-Solving:  Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues and develop practical solutions.

Attention to Detail:  High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work.

Position Overview

The Civil Engineer – Site Design Specialist will be integral to the planning, design, and execution of diverse site development projects. This role involves working closely with clients, architects, and other engineering professionals to develop functional, efficient, and environmentally conscious site designs that meet regulatory requirements and project objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

Site Planning and Design:  Develop comprehensive site plans and design solutions for various projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial developments. Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal regulations, particularly those specific to California.

Project Management:  Manage the full lifecycle of site design projects from initial concept through to final implementation. Coordinate with project teams to ensure adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

Technical Analysis:  Perform site analyses such as geotechnical investigations, hydrological studies, and traffic impact assessments. Utilize engineering software and tools for accurate design and analysis.

Client and Stakeholder Communication:  Act as the primary contact for clients, providing regular updates, addressing queries, and integrating feedback into design solutions. Collaborate with stakeholders to align project goals with client expectations.

Regulatory Compliance:  Navigate the permit application process and ensure that designs comply with California Building Codes, local zoning laws, and environmental regulations.

Sustainability Integration:  Implement sustainable design practices and green infrastructure solutions to reduce environmental impact and enhance the long-term sustainability of projects.

Quality Assurance:  Conduct quality reviews of design documents, construction plans, and project deliverables to ensure precision and adherence to engineering standards.

 

Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

Experience:  At least 3 years of professional experience in site design, with a proven track record of successful project completion. Experience in California is highly desirable.

Licensing:  Professional Engineer (PE) license in California is required. Additional certifications relevant to site design and development are a plus.

Technical Skills:  Proficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation), GIS tools, and hydrological modeling software. Knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modeling) is beneficial.

Knowledge:  Strong understanding of California-specific building codes, zoning laws, environmental regulations, and permitting processes.

Skills:  Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and strong communication abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
